The Need for Bible Translations

Why Do We Still Need to Translate the Bible?

Just consider these facts: There are only 683 languages which have the whole Bible,
both OT and NT– from among the 7099 languages in the world.
There are 1534 translations of the NT with no OT in those mother tongues (Wycliffe, Oct. 2018,). All those people lack the foundational message of the Bible from Genesis, through the birth of the nation of Israel, to the Prophets, Psalms and Proverbs.
Over 23 years ago, in 1995, a small non-profit organization now called JCBT, sprang into action. It created an academic study program for mother tongue Bible translators of the Hebrew Bible in cooperation with the Rothberg School for International Students of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
JCBT has trained since its beginning 164 translators of the Hebrew Bible. They represent 95 mother tongues from 44 countries. The translation work in these languages is progressing all over the world.
Your partnership, support and prayers have enabled the work to go on year after year. We are happy to share with you the update of 2018.
