Land of the Bible Study Tour for Bible Translation Consultants January 6.-19. 2018

No longer limited to 8 participants! Announcing:

14-day Land of the Bible Study Tour for Bible Translation Consultants
Saturday 6 January 2018 – Friday 19 January 2018

The Jerusalem Center for Bible Translators is pleased to announce the open-registration 2018 course for Bible Consultants and Consultants-in-Training with arrivals on Saturday 6 January 2018 and departures on Friday 19 January 2018. This 14-day course includes 12 days of study-tours relating Scripture text to its historical, archaeological, cultural, linguistic and geographical context. With Bible in hand, trips to the Biblical sites throughout the Land are experienced with an eye toward Bible translation issues. This program is uniquely designed for consultants and Bible translation project administrators. If taking the course for credit, pre-and post-study tour assignments will be required. We are no longer limiting this course to eight participants but will accept between 10-20 candidates. Accommodations will be at the JCBT dormitory and country hotel rooms a few meters away with double or triple occupancy rooms.

The fee for the entire course in the land (including room, board, field trips and entry fees, lectures, etc.) is $1750 per person in double occupancy. (Please note: Nesher Shared Taxi to and from JCBT at Yad HaShmona is not included in the fee.)

Overwhelmed by a previous course here in the Land of the Bible, one consultant commented:
“When I travel to an international conference I expect to learn three new things in three days, but here it was an exception that I had not already learned five new things before noon. I do not exaggerate if I say that after six months, I still appreciate and use what I experienced there–both in my teaching and translating of the Hebrew Bible–on a daily basis.”
And another consultant shared:
“What this study tour did for me was to give me an index of my ignorance regarding the geography and some of the context of the Holy Land.”

We hope that this course will continue to be a blessing in clarifying the context of the Bible.
